By buying agricultural products from the villagers of the Teghut and Schnogh communities, each of us helps to prevent the threatening exploitation and robbery of the residents of rural communities by mining companies.
Today, the situation in Armenia is such that the only argument for requesting permission to exploit yet another mine is the difficult socio-economic state of the local residents and the necessity of creating new jobs, while other ways of developing the region are not considered.
The local residents have to or are forced to accept the mining industry as the only opportunity to take care of their family troubles, realizing well that the mine will endanger their and their children’s health, and when the exploitation of the mine is over, the whole area will turn into a dead zone, where it will no longer be possible to carry out agricultural or any other activity.
The sale of agricultural products initiative is aimed at giving the residents of the Teghut community the opportunity to sell their products without any intermediaries and commissions, to develop autonomous economies, to have a decent, long-term job, without endangering one’s health and future
